Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (SRSV)
The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa provides a pathway to permanent residency. If your visa application is successful you will receive a three year provisional visa and after you have lived in a regional area for two years and worked in a skilled occupation in the regional area for 12 months, you may be eligible for a permanent skilled visa.
To apply for a Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa you require Sponsorship from the Government of Western Australia. Please note that being granted State Sponsorship does not guarantee your visa will be approved.
Eligibility Criteria - Temporary Residency
- Have an occupation on the State's Western Australian Occupations in Demand List (WAOIDL) OR have an occupation on the Australian Skills Occupation List that is supported by one of Western Australia's nine Regional Development Commissions (RDC);
(on receiving an application the State Migration Centre will contact the RDC's to establish support) - Commit to living and working in a regional area of Western Australia ; and
- Bring sufficient funds into the State to cover settlement costs.
Regional areas in Western Australia represent the entire State except for the Perth metropolitan area.
You must also meet Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) basic criteria:
- Be aged under 45 years at the time you lodge your visa application;
- Meet DIAC’s points test pass mark for State/Territory Sponsored visas of 100;
- Have at least a vocational level of English (higher for some occupations);
- Have qualifications assessed as comparable to Australian requirements; and
- Have a minimum level of recent work experience in a skilled occupation OR have completed a qualification after at least two years study in Australia, within the last six months.
