Business Migration

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

From 1 July 2009 a non refundable fee will be charged for all Business sponsorship applications lodged with the Government of Western Australia. You must make your payment online prior to lodging your sponsorship application. Please ensure that you make a note of the reference number provided upon completion of payment and include it where indicated on your sponsorship application form.

The Government of Western Australia recognises and values the positive economic and social contribution that migrants have made and continue to make to the State.

Western Australia is currently experiencing strong and sustained economic growth. Driven largely by an expanding resources sector, this is creating many exciting opportunities across the State. Added to this is an enviable lifestyle, excellent education and sporting facilities and much more. We invite you and your family to come share our future.

If you have a successful background in owning or managing a business or investments, and you would like to engage in business or investment activity in Western Australia, you may wish to consider Business Migration.

The majority of business people will first enter Western Australia on a four year Provisional Business Visa. After successfully managing a business or investment here, you may be eligible to apply for a Permanent Business Visa.

To help assess your eligibility for a Business Visa, please read the criteria on this website.

Benefits of State Sponsorship

Some visa categories require sponsorship from the Government of Western Australia. The State Migration Centre provides this sponsorship on behalf of the Government of Western Australia. The benefits of State Sponsorship for business migrants include concessions for age and English language ability, lower financial thresholds for visa criteria and immediate permanent residence visa status for high calibre business people.

Prospective business migrants are encouraged to read Booklet 7: Business Skills Entry from the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), and conduct a self-assessment against the visa categories. DIAC is responsible for the assessment and issue of all Australian visas.

For more detailed information regarding the various Federal migration programs, you may also wish to visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
