Provisional Business Visas
The following Provisional (temporary) Business Visas require sponsorship from the Government of Western Australia. The State Migration Centre (SMC) is responsible for approving State Sponsorship on behalf of the Government of Western Australia:
- Visa 163 State Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional)
- Visa 164 State Sponsored Senior Executive (Provisional)
- Visa 165 State Sponsored Investor (Provisional)
These visas are granted for four years and are intended to be a pathway to permanent residence. However, being granted a Provisional Business Skills visa does not guarantee that you will be eligible for permanent residence at a later stage.
You do not need to sit an English language test. However, if you do not have a vocational level of English, you may be required to pay an additional fee to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
If you have already reached 55 years of age and wish to apply for one of the above visas, you must carefully read the State Sponsorship Guidelines before applying for State Sponsorship.
The SMC may also be able to provide support for business owners in Western Australia who have been granted the following visa:
The following visa also requires State Sponsorship. However, it is not a pathway to permanent residence:
The fee for all provisional State sponsorship applications is A$330.00 (includes GST). Please ensure you make the electronic payment prior to lodging your application with the SMC.
