Skilled Workers
General Skilled Migration
If you have a post secondary qualification which is equivalent to at least an Australian Bachelors Degree (or higher), a diploma or trade qualification and relevant work experience, you may be eligible for one of the General Skilled Migration visas.
The State Migration Centre provides State Sponsorship under two visa categories, the Skilled – Sponsored Visa and the Skilled – Regional Sponsored Visa. These visas make it possible for people to live and work in areas of Western Australia where there is a shortage of skills.
The benefits of State Sponsorship for skilled migrants include a lower pass mark for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s points test, immediate permanent residence visa status for applicants with occupations on the State’s Priority Skills List, or a pathway to residency for those with occupations on the Skills in Demand List, you are not dependent on an employer and the ability to apply to the Migration Review Tribunal for a review of the decision on their visa application.
