Limited places for Engineering Professionals NEC

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) allocates a number of places for each occupation eligible for skilled migration.
 
The allocated number of places for Engineering Professionals NEC ANZSCO 233999 are almost full.
 
Once all places have been allocated, applications for State sponsorship for Engineering Professionals NEC will not be supported.

Monthly review of the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list
1 May 2013

From 1 May 2013 the following occupations remain unavailable for State sponsorship:
  • Electronics Engineer (ANZSCO 233411)
  • Accountant (general) (ANZSCO 221111)
  • Chemical Engineer (ANZSCO 233111)
  • Materials Engineer (ANZSCO 233112)
Off-list nominations are available to qualifying applicants.
 
Please note that occupations are reviewed on a monthly basis. If an occupation becomes available this will take place on the first working day of each month from 12:00pm WST.

Electronics Engineer not available for State Sponsorship

The occupational ceiling for Electronic Engineers (ANZSCO code 233411) has been reached in SkillSelect and is no longer available for State sponsorship effective immediately.
 
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship allocates a limited number of places each year for occupations. All available places for Electronics Engineers have been used.

Transitional arrangements are now closed
17 December 2012

Skilled Migration Western Australia (SMWA) is no longer accepting State sponsorship applications under Transitional Arrangements.
 
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is closing the Skilled – Sponsored (subclass 886) visa and Skilled – Sponsored (Provisional) (Subclass 487) visa on 31 December 2012.
 
In order to process existing State sponsorship applications for these visa subclasses before the deadline, SMWA has stopped accepting new applications.
 
SMWA also no longer offers State sponsorship to those who have lodged a visa application with Department of Immigration and Citizenship between 1 September 2007 to 30 June 2010.
 
Western Australian State sponsorship is only available for the following visas:
 
Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190) visa; and
Skilled – Regional Nominated (provisional) (subclass 489) visa.

Chemical Engineer and Materials Engineer not available for State sponsorship

The occupation of Chemical Engineer (ANZSCO code 233111) and Materials Engineer (ANZSCO code 233112) are no longer available for State sponsorship, effective immediately.
 
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has a limited number of places allocated for each occupation and have used all available places for Chemical Engineers and Materials Engineers.

Western Australian skilled migration occupation list now available
4 October 2012

The Department of Training and Workforce Development has released the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL) for 2012-2013.
 
Occupations on the WASMOL Schedule 1 are available for State sponsorship.
 
Occupations on the WASMOL Schedule 2 (off list) are available for State sponsorship and off list criteria apply. 
 
Occupations which are not on the WASMOL Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 (off list) are not available for sponsorship with Western Australia.

New criteria for State Sponsorship

The Department of Training and Workforce Development has released the criteria for Western Australian State Sponsorship for the following State sponsored skilled visas:
 
Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 190); and
Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 489).

Please ensure you have submitted an Expression of Interest under SkillSelect with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) before submitting an application with SMWA.
