To ensure you are adequately prepared for your arrival into Australia, it is essential that you organise your personal documents. Originals or certified copies of documents (that relate to you and your family) are required. Documents may include:
birth certificates;
character references;
children’s school reports;
driver’s licence;
family medical records (ie vaccination documentation);
marriage certificate;
references from previous landlords;
taxation documentation;
trade qualifications;
university and other educational certificates; and
work references.

Free translating service
If any of your personal documents are not written in English, you will need to have summaries/extracts of them translated into English.
People settling permanently in Australia can have up to ten eligible documents translated into English, within the first two years of their eligible visa grant date.

If you are not eligible for the free service above or you have other documents that need to be translated, the NAATI online directory lists certified and recognised translators or interpreters.
